
Celebrating success in the 58th Founding Anniversary of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) with this year’s theme “A Catalyst of Progress with 58 years of Efficient, Resilient and Sustainable Development,” the Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation Systems (UPRIIS) held a special awarding ceremony on June 28, 2021 at UPRIIS Gymnasium, Cabanatuan City. The event was held with due observance of the minimum health protocols against Covid-19.
UPRIIS Department Manager Rosalinda B. Bote proudly received for the second year in a row, the Integrated Irrigation Systems Office (IISO) of the Year plaque of recognition for UPRIIS for CY 2020 as awarded by the NIA Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) for the Annual Search for Outstanding Performers in its recently-held virtual awarding ceremony. In addition, UPRIIS Division I under the stewardship of Engr. Felix L. Teaño, Jr. was hailed as the Best Integrated Irrigation Systems Division Office of the Year for CY 2020.
Aside from this prestigious awards, UPRIIS also bagged other major recognitions for the employee category. NIA honors Division I Administrative and Finance Chief, Ms. Jennifer P. Esguerra as the Field Office-Based Best Employee on Support Function; Division II Operations and Maintenance Chief, Engr. Marvin C. Bustamante as the Field Office-Based Best Employee on Core Function, and Ms. Milca B. Cayanga as the Field Office-Based Best Division Manager on Support Function.
“I am earnestly grateful for the recognition we have received the fruit of our hard work and perseverance, every UPRIIS employee has his or her own contribution and fair share of work, capable of the assigned tasks, thus winning us this prestigious award,” said Engr. Bote in her anniversary message.
Despite the challenging circumstances brought about by the sudden surge of Covid-19 pandemic in the country, UPRIIS remains resilient and committed to provide the irrigation needs of the farmers without disruption, in continuous pursuit of the Agency’s goals and mission. During this period, the hardwork and dedication of its employees to public service were highly emphasized and thus, an occasion like this was carried out to recognize their invaluable contributions to the breakthrough accomplishments and achievements of UPRIIS.
The UPRIIS Simple Anniversary Celebration and Awarding Ceremony spearheaded by the UPRIIS Top Officials Department Manager Bote, Engineering and Operations Division (EOD) Manager Vivencia C. Dela Cruz, and Administrative and Finance Division Manager Cayanga was joined by the Office Resident Auditor Evelyn T. Santos, UPRIIS Division Managers, Section Chiefs, Unit Heads, key staff and employees. This event was consisted of the virtual oath taking of the newly promoted employees, presentation of CY 2020, CY 2021 Loyalty Awardees and recognition of UPRIIS retirees. The event also featured the awarding of the UPRIIS Head and Division Offices Best Employees for Core Function and Support Function for CY 2020, and recognition of the UPRIIS Public Relations Officer (PRO) as NIA’s Outstanding PRO of CY 2020.
In the light of the success of UPRIIS in the celebration of NIA’s 58th Anniversary, UPRIIS took part in the nationwide Tree Planting Activity of NIA on June 25, 2021 as part of the National Greening Program of the Agency. In its three existing watersheds in Nueva Ecija and Nueva Vizcaya, UPRIIS and some Central Office officials and staff-representatives planted around 2,300 seedlings of bamboo, fruit-bearing trees and other tree species in Upper Tabuating Watershed in Gen. Tinio, Nueva Ecija, Pantabangan Watershed in Alfonso, Castañeda, Nueva Vizcaya, and Macanae Watershed in Lupao, Nueva Ecija.
As most awaited also in the anniversary celebration was the Inter-Division Tiktok Dance challenge which was voted for its popularity in a week-period, and later that day adjudged Division II as the Champion, beating Division III and IV, that placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively. The Tiktok dance contest was UPRIIS’ way to celebrate the 58 glorious years of the National Irrigation Administration amidst the continuous fight against covid-19 pandemic and engaged its employees as the dance adhered to the NIA anniversary theme, and at the same time portraying the different Division Offices’ irrigation project or innovation within their respective UPRIIS service areas.
Before the program was successfully ended, Department Manager Bote stated that the Agency will continue to perform NIA’s sworn mandate and ensure excellent irrigation services to uplift the lives of the Filipino farmers, anchored to the Agency’s tagline #TuloyAngDaloyNIA.
